When in Rome

Rome, the capital of Italy and the most largest and populous among the other cities of the country is known being the seat of the Papacy and the Roman Catholic Church.  Each year, the city is flocked with tourists and pilgrims visiting the St. Peter Basilica and the St. Peter’s Square.

Changes

The cost of divorce

An aunt who’s now an immigrant in the US told my sister that people in the US prefer not to marry but just live together without any contract binding them because divorce is too costly.  Instead of thinking twice before tying the knot to make sure if the person they’re marrying is really the one they’ll stick to till the end, they’d rather not get married. Then I wonder how come I’ve noticed there are many kababayans and other nationalities who are married to American men.  Does it mean that marrying foreigners especially Asians give American men more sense of security than marrying their own race?

Dollar rate

I’m always interested how the dollar exchange is doing because I make money in the US dollar currency.  The last time I checked, it was getting stronger against our local currency. And just few minutes when I looked again, I was quite happy with the conversion.  I know how badly it affects our economy back home but people like me and also OFWs are happy when their dollar earnings get big equivalent in the local currency.  Well, life is like that. It’s like a wheel; one time you’re up, the next day you’re down.

Men’s choice

I don’t usually open forwarded emails and e-cards sent by friends.  I’m kinda paranoid coz it might infect me with spam mails.  There was a time when I received more than 50 of these emails from all sorts of products.  Now I’m relieved of that as my mail program automatically dumps them in the bulk folder where spam mails reside!

I pity a friend of mine coz she deletes each and every single spam she gets.  She’s only renting in an internet café and complained that all her time was spent deleting spam. Poor girl!

Pancakes again!

The pancakes I made last week were a big hit for my little girl.  She liked it and everytime she’s hungry, I would hand her a piece to eat; very, very convenient. The ones I made lasted like three days. So this morning, I made another batch.  I had a box of milk that I usually add to my choco drink but since I’m the only one using it, it stays in the ref for few days.  It needed to be consumed ASAP or else it will spoil and cooking pancakes could save my predicament pretty well.

This time I placed the little girl’s highchair beside the countertop where I was mixing the batter and gave her cereal while I worked.  She was preoccupied for most of the time which was a relief and I finished cooking in peace.

So now we have pancakes again! 

Cruise!

Since that time I heard from my sister and my mom excitingly relating their experience when they had a cruise in Thailand at the river Chao Praya, I have been dreaming of taking a cruise myself; at that time, a few years back, I was a single gal yet. Now of course, if ever, I’d be together with my beloved family.

When we were in Finland, we almost had a cruise! Hmmm I guess I have mentioned that already here.  =) Anyway, that could have been from Turku to Stockholm. Oh, but the plan could not push through as my sister (the host) got sick! Sayang!  We could have taken a luxury cruise ship! I wonder how it could have been. Are cereals good for kids?

It all started with the frosted cornflakes, then we tried their cinnamon squares (which we got hooked for quite sometime) until recently we’ve tried another cereal from Tesco, their golden puffs which I liked too. And you bet the little girl loves them too.  I guess that’s the reason why she always drags me to the kitchen, opens the cabinet herself and picks the cereal we keep in there.
