Shooting in Finland
September 25, 2008Last Tuesday morning, I turned off the TV to watch Larry King but the program was interrupted with a breaking news. It immediately caught my attention coz it was about Finland. I spent part of my summer vacation there with the family, so the place holds special memories for me.
There was apparently a shooting in a college in a small town of Kauhajoki. The suspect who was a student at the school, walked inside the classroom where he was to take exams and opened fire on his classmates and teacher. He also set-off some homemade bombs which burned parts of the school and also some dead bodies.
It was really a surprise to see such tragic thing happen to a country that I perceived as a very peaceful place. Last year, a similar incident also happened in Jokela highschool. It only goes to show that there’s not a safe place in this world.
