You walk out of the neighborhood and you wonder why the basketball court is empty. It’s summer time, they’re supposed to be enjoying their vacation playing with their friends, but where are the boys? My hunch, you would most probably find them in internet cafes playing video games all day long. Even during school days, they’d scramble to these internet cafes to play on their break time or recess. Sometimes they would even skip their snacks or meals and instead spend their money on renting video games. It’s one of the problems that parents have to face in this high technology age.
I know some students who failed in school because they got addicted to video games. They would skip classes, or ignore their studies all together just to be able to play games. Parents should be vigilant about this; know what your kids are doing and be able to discipline them when it comes to playing video games. These games aren’t actually harmful per se, they can even be good for their motor skills but the key is moderation. If ever you buy them game console, choose for them games that are non-violent.
