My Super Mom

November 16, 2006

My mom always gets compliments with her young look coz she doesn’t look like her age.  People sometimes mistake her for being 10 or 15 years younger than her real age. What sets her apart from her peers? Knowing mom, she doesn’t bother herself with problems in life. Yes, she’s not spared from it but she doesn’t wallow in self-pity and worries all day.  And she smiles a lot!  She also takes naps after lunchtime. She’s so hyperactive! She doesn’t run out of activities to do, be it church, community or profession-related.

In fact, even in her 60’s, she was taking trips to Thailand, India and Malaysia, not to mention her travel within the country and also the countless long-distance travel she does even within our province.  Why! She has been to places far and wide in Negros, places where I’ve never been to. She has also walked the fire, climbed a tree and deliberately let herself fall down, climbed 20 feet high and went down through the rope (of course, she has ample safety gadgets). She can tolerate hectic activities more than I can, she just never seem to run out of energy. She can easily adapt pretty well to her environment and the people around.

Her diet is also ideal, which consists mainly of sea foods, chicken, vegetables and fruits. We have pork or beef once in awhile to get a balanced diet. She takes in plenty of water daily (but we later found out that she is salt-sensitive and drinking too much water washes the salt away from her body, so her water intake is now regulated). Ooooohhh I could go on and on… I’m sure she doesn’t need a Miami face lift to look younger.

That’s why I call her my super mom!
